Lyle J. Black died of cancer at his home Friday, December 18,
1998. Lyle
graduated with a B.S. from UW-Eau Claire in 1976.
He received his Juris Doctor
Degree from Hamline Law School
in 1980. In 1980 he joined his father at the law
firm of
Thorntorn, Black, Wachowski & Grosskopf, S.C. in Eau Claire,
Wisconsin.
In 1994 he and Peter E. Grosskopf formed the law
firm of Grosskopf & Black. His
law practice was concentrated in
family law and criminal defense. He was a
member of the
Wisconsin Academy of Criminal Defense Attorneys, Wisconsin
Academy
of Trial Lawyers, Wisconsin State Bar, Eau Claire County Bar, American Academy
of Matrimonial Lawyers and served as a Wisconsin Public Defender. He also served
on the Board of Directors and as a coach for the Seymour Ball Club. Lyle is
sadly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.
